Last days before school starts

We've been trying to cram all sorts of fun things into our days before school starts on Tuesday. Who's idea was it by the way to start school in August?? Don't they know that August is sacred and school is SUPPOSED to start in September? Anyway, we decided to do one more summer round at the Wild Animal Park with a visit to my sisters' house afterwards. Jamison and Amy were thrilled of course because not only does she have cool toys but her snack cupboard is far superior to any snack cupboard they've yet to experience. It was so much fun for them to see Ava and Cameron as well.

Why I love Silver Buckle Way

I love living on our street! Yesterday my neighbor had a huge pile of river rock delivered. She was going to pay her gardeners to move it but I thought we could give it a shot. All of the kids were out running around so I came up with this elaborate story on how we needed to see who had the biggest muscles by moving Ruth's rock. The kids LOVED it. I was surprised that they didn't lose focus after two minutes. Needless to say, we hammered it out and Ruth was thrilled. Amy of course couldn't get her princess attire dirty so she supervised. Popsicles ensued.

Camp Pendleton Sprint Triathlon

Here are my two hours of glory...in spandex:) It was a great experience and I'd probably do it again and next time I'll train for more then 3 weeks! The swim and the bike ride weren't that bad but the run was something I would rather skip. Especially since it was at the end. Overall I'm glad it's done and Greg and I have discovered that we love biking. Below are the guys in my ward that also participated as well as Bonnie in the following picture.

A visit with Friends

Greg and I have decided that when we got married we were so focused on moving forward and haven't been the best at keeping in touch with old friends. Thank goodness they have made the effort to stay in touch with us:) Erin and Cordon Robbins were visiting from Idaho last night and we all shared one of those Giant New York pizzas and let the kids run around at the park. I love that we finally hit that point where we can visit with friends and let the kids run wild. Of course it doesn't always go smoothly but last night was incredible. The kids were so adorable together and it gave us a chance to reminisce and catch up.

Mandatory fun and why my life is more fun than Kristy's

I have to admit it.....sometimes when we go to the beach we don't always have a raving time. This however is my logic: if we are going to pay this much to live in San Diego we HAVE to enjoy it. This means going to the beach at least once a week whether we like it or not. After all, everyone in my family knows I hate to miss out on a good time. Last year at the end of the summer I was disappointed in the fact that we probably only went to the beach 3 times. Three times people! The amount of energy I had to expend to make sure we had "everything we needed" just was a daunting proposition. So this year, I have resolved to have a mandatory beach day once a week. Today we had a breakthrough. Amy has mostly just humored me on these excursions but today she finally broke down and had fun. Call it peer pressure or whatever but the girl was running in circles giggling the whole time. Jamison too improved upon his ability to have fun. He is our little body surfer. It has caused my level of anxiety to rise as he tumbles in the waves....me wondering if I have to dive in after him only to have him say, "Moooom....I'm fiiiiine.....cough snort cough." And so it is, fun times or not, we keep on goin. After all, we're paying for it.

Sea World

Saturday we decided to brave the crowds at Sea World since we needed to pick up a car at the airport for my parents. The highlight was Cirque de la Mer which is a show that goes on in the Summer. I was pretty impressed especially since we didn't pay $100 per ticket to see it. Sure it was only 20 minutes but that's all the kids can take anyway:) I think Jamison would have been content hanging out with the dolphins all day.

Farewell Sandpoint!

Thursday was our last day in Sandpoint. We decided to pack up early so we could spend out last hours on the lake. I couldn't believe how amazing the water was at 11:00 in the morning....complete glass! We were able to get back to shore in time to change in bathroom and head off to the airport. I miss it already. Thank you Mitch and Michelle!

Schweitzer

Wednesday's weather proved to be a little too windy for our planned boating activity so to the mountains went. Schweitzer to be exact. I thought it mirrored something you'd see in a movie....absolutely stunning. As Greg put it, there was nothing to do in the first five minutes but we were busy the next four hours. By the way, those harnesses for the bungee thing.....not the most comfortable. And those flips you see people do all the time.....not so easy. Jamison is the only one who used up all his time....the rest of us asked to get off early:) Jamison and I climbed part of the mountain and I was enamored by the plethora of wildflowers. I would have been happy perched up there all day long but the need for sustenance brought us back down.
