Heebie Jeebies at the Zoo

Last Saturday we started out on our way to the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center (too much of a mouthful.) When we arrived, the parking lot was packed and fun at the science center is not to be had when every resident in San Diego has already deposited their childrens' snot on the exhibits for the day.  Soooo....we continued on to the Zoo.  There are so many hidden gems at the San Diego Zoo.  We chose to visit our friendly snakes, lizards, frogs, turtles and a crocodile.  Serious heebie jeebies.  Check out the prehistoric looking turtle.  Talk about genetics gone wrong.

Birthday round #2

Amy woke up to her favorite breakfast her Dad made.  German Pancakes.  The Davises call them "hootnanies" but frankly, I have no idea how to spell it so we'll have to settle for German Pancakes for now.  Later we celebrated at our friends house by singing and blowing out candles on cupcakes.  For our final event, Amy chose Soup Plantation as her restaurant of choice....to a child, there's nothing better than soft serve ice-cream with unlimited sprinkles.

Quotes

I have a wrinkled up piece of paper that keeps floating around which contains various quotes from our household. I'm writing them here so I can throw away this paper.

"Is it sleeping?" Jamison on why he couldn't pee before bed

"I give up trying to be ambitious" - Vanessa while trying to find a 5k or 10k online which takes place on a day other than Sunday.

'We're in a retirement situation. Our kids don't need stuff......well...." Lynn

Jamison "are we going to a party at the church?"
Dad "Today we are going to worship."
Jamison "uuuh...we are going on a a war ship?!"

"Amy, Stop drinking water out of your shoe!"- Vanessa

"One of the most powerful lessons we can teach our children is that even we are growing learning and changing" I have know idea where I got this, it is just written on this paper.

Coronado

We've always had fabulous luck whenever we've gone to Coronado Beach. It's quite a hike but always worth it. Our kids are hitting a sweet spot where 85% of the time they are just thrilled to be there without a major meltdown. Again...Becca consumed her share of sand.

Amy's birthday: Round 1

We had our family birthday celebration for Amy on Sunday so we could have more people to help celebrate. Lynn made her cake....complete with dress up shoes. Who wouldn't love that? When Amy opened her clock she yelled, "this is just what I wanted!" Later the kiddos became immersed in legos.

Cousins

I LOVE listening to little kids converse. Amy and Max were pretty classic. I couldn't keep up with Jamison and Lucas but I imagine it involved the words "light sabers" and "star wars."

Middle Child Syndrome

Frequently Amy falls in the depths of despair of the middle child pit. She literally becomes an alien. And then other times she is just a goofball.....and I always offer to take her picture which gives her a little boost of self-esteem for a few minutes. This time she decided to put on my swim cap and a snow hat. It wouldn't be that funny if they were in a pile and she was playing dress up however the swim cap was in dark crevices of our coat closet and who knows where the other hat came from. Still....pretty cute.

Winter Beach Weather

Greg's brother Randy and his family were in town this weekend. We love it when they come because two of their boys match up with Jamison and Amy. It is a beautiful thing when the kids run off and play together.....I only wish we had more cousins near by. Becca couldn't have been happier crawling around in the sand.

Valentine's Day Class celebration

Amy and Jamison were estatic to celebrate Valentine's Day this year. I don't know if I hyped it up or their teachers but they were so giddy in the morning. Jamison made sure that everything he was wearing was red too. I don't remember it being that big of a deal when I was little.....but we're always up for having fun, even if it means dressing up in hearts:)

Waxy Wonderland

It all started with the heart molds at Michaels and I went crazy from there. Needless to say, 2 bags of crayons later, we had many hearts of wax. Everyone in both Amy and Jamison's class got one. I think I was more excited about them then they were:)

Big shoes to fill

Becca was trying to look out the window and Greg's slippers just happened to be there for her to step in.
