Who is this boy??

Jamison volunteered to be my model today as I was playing with exposure and film speed. As I look through these pictures I am a little weirded out. Who is this kid?? He looks way too old to be my little Jamison. On top of that, he's been unusually sweet lately which makes me even more suspicious. Sure, he's a good kid but what 7 year old consistently runs ahead of you to open a door or volunteer to carry heavy items to and from the car. It's been several weeks now with this behavior and he has not requested any toy for his services. Don't get me wrong....I love it but it is .....just different.

After Amy was born and Jamison was just 2 I was visiting with my sister in law. As she held baby Amy in her arms I about burst into tears as I asked her if my life was ever going to be more then a barrage of sippy cups and diapers. She chuckled and assured me that I was indeed in the trenches of motherhood and that it WOULD get better. And it HAS! I love having more independent children. Watching their personalities develop has been amusing and enjoyable. Another perk is that Jamison is a HUGE help. He always rescues Becca from my wrath (or Greg's) at the end of the day by distracting her with potato heads or Elmo. He's intuitive, sensitive, musically inclined, quite obsessive over handball and thoughtful. He's handsome too...don't ya think? Hooray for babies that grow up.

How's that for a bunch of thoughts thrown out there? I feel like that's just where I am right now. A pile of scattered thoughts.

Picking FRESH Strawberries

Today was the first day of Summer vacation for the kiddos. And for me:) We didn't HAVE to be ANYWHERE and I could use a little more of that in my life now:) What a a treat. We did however need to do something besides sit inside and stare at one another so we opted for fresh berry picking in Carlsbad. It sounds a lot more glamorous that it actually is due to the mud and bugs but in the end we came home with two big buckets of fresh berries for jam. Becca wasn't buying the whole U-pick concept so she kept busy tearing down the caution tape which signaled to the patrons to stay in one area. She is afterall a Davis and does not do well with anything that says "keep out."

Amy and Jamison are now "pro-pickers" of fresh strawberries.

Next stop: Kindergarten

Time is officially going warp speed. Little Amy bear is done with pre-school. This is her third day wearing this shirt. Yesterday she was asked what the "G" stood for. She said, "Greg." Love this little girl!

Memorial Day Weekend at the beach

Last weekend we met our friends the Wards at the beach....and it was COLD. How dare it be cold at the beach in San Diego. Seriously. Nevertheless....we had fun. Greg's highlight was swiming in the ocean and being WARM. Two words that don't really go together for him. We scored a sweet wetsuit for Greg at a garage sale recently and he couldn't be happier about it.

Torrey Pines in June

My niece Rachel and her family were in town a couple of weeks ago and requested that we hike Torrey Pines. Grandma and Grandpa Davis came! Our visit was completed with lunch at Alibertos....perfect day.
