Today I was bold. I let Jamison and Amy each invite a friend to the beach. That is...because it's what you do when you own a minivan. I digress. Everyone did well until we had to leave, which is because I neglected one of my own rules no less. We left after meltdown stage....not before. So of course we had a major meltdown. It was mostly in the form of a sandy faced three year old girl who apparently had tired feet and could not walk. Now because I was hauling 2 umbrellas, the snack bag, 4 bottles of sunscreen, a bag of sand toys, 3 towels, 1 blanket and don't forget the baby, I was unable to add this particular three year old to the pile. So instead everyone at Del Mar Beach had the pleasure of watching me pretend I didn't know my own child while the three "older" children walked at a safe distance behind. This gave me a fantastic opportunity to practice some wonderful breathing exercises and reconsider why I put myself in these situations. We had a great time.

Father's Day
For Father's day we gave Greg a gift that many fathers would absolutely love....or mothers (speaking of myself.) Quiet. A whole weekend of quiet. Yep. We were gone so it was a nice way of spinning the fact that we missed father's day into a positive:) After all....that is one thing I am working on. So in lieu of our absence, upon his return from a business trip he found this card on our bed neatly tucked into a huge Padres fleece tie blanket we made him.

Rebecca's Baby Blessing
June 7th 2009
Rebecca's blessing day was so beautiful. We had several wonderful friends come and support us as well. Below is a transcript of Rebecca's blessing a dear friend surprised us with.
Rebecca Lynn Davis, by the authority of the Holy Melchizedek Priesthood and in the name of Jesus Christ, we lay our hands upon your head and give you a name and a blessing. The name that you will be known by upon the records of the church is Rebecca Lynn Davis.
At this time, I bless you with a love for Heavenly Father. Your arrival is a reminder that all life is in His hands. I bless you with spiritual understanding. That your trust and love for Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ will bring you a great joy in this life.
Rebecca, I bless you with a deep love for your mother who worked so hard to get you here.
I bless you with a love for the commandments. They are here to prevent pain and anguish.
I bless you with a happy spirit, with love for the simple pleasures in life.
Rebecca, I bless you to be a good example to those around you. That by knowing you and seeing the joy in your life, they will want to know the Savior.
I bless you that when the time comes, you will be filed with a love for the temple and for the peace therein.
I leave all of these blessings and any more that the Lord knows you stand in need of in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Late start on summer beach days
I finally got enough gumption to hall my three small children and myself to the beach. The first 2 hours Jamison and Amy insisted on making me aware of how starving they were for Cheetos and not PBJ's, graham crackers or fruit leathers. The third hour Jamison decided it would be better for him to go into the water with clothes on instead of swim trunks.....and finally the fourth hour, Jamison and Amy both decided they could probably have a great time at the beach...just in time to leave of course. Becca did alright and overall we did well in avoiding sunburn....except for myself. Mothers are always the last to receive a dose of sunscreen if any which can result in the consumption of half a bottle of aloe later on. Amy never wanted to jump any waves but man we built some fabulous drip castles together.
