FYI

I am home today.  I just completed a short internship at Pomerado Hospital this week.  It was unexpected and no application was necessary....just insurance and a lot of money.  Most of my nurses names were foreign sounding but my Dr's name was John Martin which made up for not being able to pronounce any others.

I had a blockage in the plumbing of my kidney which resulted in the growth of zillions of bacteria.....for some reason I picture them as relatives as those green guys they use in the mucinex commercial.  Makes me hate them more.  Anyway, this led to a rather major infection which can only be taken care of by probably the most expensive antibiotics on the market.

I had stent put in on Wednesday in surgery.  In two weeks I'll have to have my plumbing repaired.

I'm tired but grateful to be feeling better and even more so for the fantastic pain killers that are available today.

My kids have considered this one big play date and I have discovered that my family eats better while I am gone than when I am home.

Thank you for your prayers,calls and for everyone who has helped out with my children and for the amazing meals brought in. It has meant the world to me.

Family Home Evening with the Plumbs

My cousin's hubby was out of town this week so we had her over to join us for FHE.  The kids were delighted to have more friends over to play.  One of the activities Amy had been asking to do was to have a waterballoon fight.  After the kiddos scarfed down their food and following our lesson on the liahona, we let the kids free.  The neighborhood kids were waiting outside to see when we were going to have our fight as they had previously watched me fill the balloons.  When we gave the kids the go ahead everyone joined in the fun.  Amy couldn't have been happier:)

Spring snow in April

Yesterday we went to the beach snow.  There had been a storm this past week and we could see the snow tipped mountains from the freeway so we decided to pack up the kids and all their paraphernalia and hit the road.  I didn't expect there to be too much snow this late in the season so we came miserably prepared.  This didn't stop the kids from having a complete blast.  We purchased an overpriced saucer from the nearby store and found ourselves a nice slope to sled on.  This was the first real snow experience for our kids and they truly ate it up.  When we were completely soaked and scraped up by our many crashes on the sled we jumped in the car and headed east down the mountain into Lake Henshaw and Santa Isabel.  Dudley's was awaiting us where my kids picked out a bag of Cheetos to scarf down and then we devoured a bag of molasses and ginger bars.  Yum!  My arms are still burning from using them to stop the sled in the snow but it was totally worth it.

La Jolla Shores

On Saturday we reviewed our opportunities for fun and decided we would once again thought we'd give the beach a shot. We brought our pirate ship kite from Costco thinking this would be the day for it to take flight. Unfortunately we failed in our valiant attempt while concluding that next time there is a hurricane in the southeast, we'll pack up our kite and send it to somebody down there. It had no effect on our fun factor. Becca has proven to be a trooper as she happily blazes trails in the sand. Amy and I practiced our drip castle making skills and Jamison camped out underneath the lifeguard tower.

Bubble Season

Every spring Walmart designates an entire aisle to bubbles and sand toys. Every year I fall victim to this particular aisle. I just get giddy standing there reviewing all the possible opportunities there are to have fun with the various products staring me down on their tin shelves. I think this time I spent about $20 on bubbles. $20 on soap, water and plastic!! And yet, we have so much fun with them and it is totally worth it.

Becca's first birthday

These photos will have to suffice until I find the sd card I misplaced. It has all of her cake pictures and my birthday pictures on it:( At any rate, we had a progressive birthday true to Davis form.  Rebecca turned one on April 8th. During the day we had birthday muffins with the neighborhood kids and in the evening we had the Grandparents over.

It truly is amazing how quickly time passes. Just a year ago we were both in the hospital in shock from the rocky arrival she had. We sure love her and thank the Lord each day for the sweet blessing she is in our lives.

Greg took the kids to the Padres game yesterday and they had an absolute blast. Yay for day games and free floppy hats!

Dr. Amy

Amy received some gear for her birthday which has enabled her to feel more official as she performs "check-ups" on all of her dolls.

Butterflies

For Christmas, the kids received a butterfly kit. We recently sent in our voucher for the catepillars. A week later we found two containers of catepillars and after a period of time we watched them turn into butterflies. Well....that was the idea but frankly, it happened a little more slowly than the kids would have liked. One morning we woke up and they all had "hatched" into beautiful painted lady butterflies. The fun faded and it became evident we needed to release our fuzzy winged friends. We made a neighborhood event of it and watched as our little friends struggled to fly away. The kids gleefully jumped around as they made their way into the sky. I was glad the surrounding birds did not make any of them a light snack....that was probably later on:)

Kite Flying

After the Easter egg hunt the kids wanted to fly their kites as it was a fairly windy morning. It was a bit anticlimactic. We then headed off to a birthday party where the kids were thrilled with their painted faces. Later when we washed it off their skin was so red and irritated. The only time this hasn't happened was when Jamison had his face painted at Legoland....I need to figure out what kind of paint they use. After the birthday party I headed off to a wedding. Did I mention I also attended a baby shower while the kids were at the egg hunt? BUSY day!
