For Christmas, the kids received a butterfly kit. We recently sent in our voucher for the catepillars. A week later we found two containers of catepillars and after a period of time we watched them turn into butterflies. Well....that was the idea but frankly, it happened a little more slowly than the kids would have liked. One morning we woke up and they all had "hatched" into beautiful painted lady butterflies. The fun faded and it became evident we needed to release our fuzzy winged friends. We made a neighborhood event of it and watched as our little friends struggled to fly away. The kids gleefully jumped around as they made their way into the sky. I was glad the surrounding birds did not make any of them a light snack....that was probably later on:)Thursday, April 8, 2010
